About Us
The building of the medical institution was built by the prominent Gabrovo industrialist Pencho Semov in 1942 as a student dormitory and later donated to the city. At the end of World War II, it was used to rehabilitate wounded soldiers.
In 1947, Dr. Kiril Vaglenov was sent by the Ministry of Health to Gabrovo to organize a 200-bed anti-tuberculosis sanatorium as an operational center for Northeastern Bulgaria, later converted into a hospital. Dr. Vaglenov managed it until 1980 and performed over 5,000 operations.
 Over the years, due to the sharp decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis, the medical facility was restructured, and patients with acute and chronic non-specific lung diseases began to be treated.
