Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), established in 1961, is a government-run institution and one of Jharkhand’s oldest and most prominent medical colleges and hospitals. Located in Sakchi, Jamshedpur, the hospital has historically served as a major healthcare provider for the region, offering undergraduate and postgraduate medical education along with a wide range of clinical services. The hospital’s motto, inspired by Vedic philosophy, is “Medical Education for Life, Through Life and Throughout Life.” The old building, however, has recently been declared unsafe due to structural failures, and most services are being shifted to a new 500+ bed facility at Dimna

However, the old Sakchi building has suffered from severe structural deterioration, including a recent collapse that resulted in casualties, leading to its closure and transition to a new campus. Despite these challenges, the hospital remains committed to public health and medical training.
