McGANN Teaching District Hospital, established in 1932 with a 50-bed capacity, is a landmark government hospital in Shivamogga. The hospital was named in honor of Dr. T.G. McGann, a pioneering surgeon in the Mysore state, and has grown into a major tertiary care and teaching facility. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for the Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), offering a wide range of clinical and diagnostic services, including 24x7 casualty and emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, and specialized units such as blood bank, dialysis, burns, ART center, and Ayush. The hospital is equipped with modern infrastructure and technology, including ventilators, monitors, central oxygen supply, digital X-ray, CT scan, and MRI, supporting both routine and advanced medical care. With 650 beds and over 1,600 outpatients daily, McGANN Hospital is a critical healthcare hub for central Karnataka, committed to quality medical education, research, and patient care.
