The MetroHealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being: affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity and access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal help and other services.
The system’s more than 600 doctors, 1,700 nurses and nearly 9,000 employees go to work each day with a mission of service, to their patients and to the community.
As Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system, MetroHealth plays an essential role in the region, caring for anyone and everyone, regardless of an ability to pay.
Founded in 1837, MetroHealth operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers and 40 additional sites throughout Cuyahoga County. The system serves more than 300,000 patients, two-thirds of whom are uninsured or covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

Spent 7 hours in the emergency room before an appendectomy was needed. Everyone I encountered was absolutely amazing. Dr. Sandra in the ER was kind and wanted to help me figure out my issues even after my I blood tests and ultrasounds came back. Monty in the er was such a kind gem who made sure I was comfortable. Also a heavily tattooed handsome man with knuckle tats, don’t remember his name but I wish I did because he also deserves recognition.
And lastly Dr. Fred’s team the performed my procedure later on 4/8 everyone on that crew made me feel safe and cared for especially Ms.Sandy. Will never go to another big cle hospital again. Thanks for the amazing care.
Thank you for taking the time to rate your experience! We are pleased to hear that our team provided you with excellent service.
Imagine discharging an almost 70-year old cancer patient at 1am, telling him that he just needs to eat and drink something, when said patient went into the hospital in the first place because he was in too much pain and mental confusion to eat for several days. The level of "care" here is absolutely laughable; I can't fathom a more incompetent or irresponsible facility. The staff should be ashamed of themselves. I hope that in their time of need, they receive the same abysmal treatment they give to others.
