About Us :

MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital’s beginnings trace back to the earliest days of the city of Tacoma. Founded in 1882, seven years before Washington achieved statehood, the Fannie C. Paddock Memorial Hospital opened its doors in a former dance hall on North Starr Street in what is now Old Town Tacoma.

Today, what was once the Fannie C. Paddock Memorial Hospital is now MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, and the health care mission begun in that converted dance hall has evolved over the last 130 years into MultiCare Health System — the premier health care system in the South Puget Sound region.

We remain dedicated to enhancing the health of the people we serve, providing and setting the standard for quality patient care in the region and supporting the communities that we call home.

I had surgery on 03/17/2025. I was on the 2nd floor of the surgeon floor and the whole team of nurses were so great. They made sure my pain was managed they explained everything to you. Super super super nice group of nurses. I pray that I don't have to go back but if I do I pray I get the same floor with the same nurses. Give this floor of nurses a BIG PAY RAISE!!! Wait the cafeteria group was so awesome also. Way to go TG. The staffing is wonderful!!! 🌟🌟

I'm not sure why there are so many haters with such negative reviews. My recent Jan. 2025 heart ablation surgical procedure was amazing from the initial check-in process, surgery center (pre & post opp), cath lab, to staying the night in CCU (amazing staff-Thao, Erica, Ralph, and Michael). Pre and post opp surgery staff were also amazing 👏. My Cardiac Electrophysiologist surgeon Dr. Segerson and anesthesiologist, Dr. Schrenk were amazing! They took the time to explain the procedure and answered any questions I had. The facility was clean, well organized and everyone was so professional, kind, and we even joked a bit. Maybe these other negative reviews were more directed at the ER, but my experience was top-notch, A+, and I'll definitely be a returning patient.
