Established in 1927 by Dr. E. George Marcus, Mwami Adventist Hospital is a pioneering mission hospital located approximately 30 km southeast of Chipata in Eastern Zambia. It serves a catchment population of over 100,000 from the Luangeni political constituency and surrounding areas. The hospital began with humble origins, conducting its first surgical operation under a mosquito net outdoors, and has grown into a well-established healthcare institution with 210 general beds and 40 extended care beds. It operates multiple clinical departments and offers a mix of general and specialized medical services while emphasizing compassionate mission-driven care. The hospital is supported by both local staff and international volunteers and partners.
