1. Total Knee Replacement. Good experience. Professional & lovely staff. Food was surprisingly pretty good. My only criticism was the way I was bundled out without care on discharge. Knee replacements are very painful so it was unbelievable that they gave me 20 minutes notice to have a shower and pack by myself and be downstairs for transfer to a rehab hospital. No help whatsoever and forced me to sit with my 'unbendable leg' in a tiny unsuitable wheelchair causing more extreme pain. Extremely unprofessional. They just kicked me out on the Friday because they don't want patients to stay if they can possibly get them out. if that hadn't have happened, they would have got five stars from me.
2. I stayed inpatient for 2 weeks for a septic joint. It took a while at the beginning to be assessed and to get pain relief. However, every staff member was more than pleasant, tentative and capable. I moved from the orthopaedics ward to maternity and back. While I was severely unwell, the staff (specifically nursing, surgeons, infection specialists, blood collectors, radiographers) made me feel safe and comfortable given the circumstances. That is a true gift. Thank you.
