The New Otaru Municipal Hospital opened on December 1, 2014, after the long-cherished wish of integrating and building two old municipal hospitals. Thanks to everyone's support, the hospital has been running smoothly and harmoniously since its opening, and has a favorable reputation. I am relieved and pleased about that. We will strive to achieve even better results. 　As a hospital business manager, I try to clearly understand the hospital's goals and roles, the circumstances and prospects of the medical situation, and to properly disclose and evaluate them. The goal of the new hospital is to provide high-quality, reliable and secure medical care not only to the citizens of Otaru, but also to the residents of Shiribeshi. To that end, we aim to become a regional hospital with a comprehensive medical system that has advanced facilities, high-performance medical equipment and information systems, and many medical departments. What 　is required for future medical care is the differentiation of hospital functions and division of roles, cooperation between medical institutions and contribution to the community, and a change in the awareness of medical professionals. The new hospital includes preventive medicine in an acute care hospital that can provide advanced medical care. Emergency medical care also needs to be improved.
