QMH is noted for its excellence in complex clinical care and innovation. It was the first hospital in Hong Kong designated as the liver transplant centre since 2003 and is the sole centre for heart, heart-lung transplant, and paediatric cardiac surgery after the 2008 consolidation of cardiothoracic services. The hospital maintains high standards through ongoing infrastructure modernization, multidisciplinary team care, and advanced treatment technologies such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for unresectable liver cancers.
