Originally a district hospital, it was upgraded to a full-fledged medical college and hospital in 2018, with the aim of expanding medical education and healthcare services to the people of Raiganj and neighboring districts. The institution is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
