The hospital is a capital company established by the Riga City Municipality. The capital shares of SIA “Rīgas 1. slimnīca” belong to the Riga City Municipality. The share capital of SIA “Rīgas 1. slimnīca” is 7,288,998 euros. Over time, the legal name of the Hospital has been changed several times, as well as reorganizations have been carried out. Based on the Riga City Council decision No. 7071 of February 16, 1999, the Riga Municipal Institution – Riga Clinical Ambulance Hospital was reorganized into the Riga Municipal Non-profit Organization – Limited Liability Company “Rīgas 1. slimnīca” and was registered in the Register of Companies on April 9, 1999. In accordance with the Riga City Council decision No. 3544 of October 19, 2004, it was reorganized into the RP SIA “Rīgas 1. slimnīca” and was entered in the Commercial Register on November 1, 2004, registration number: 40003439279, legal address: Bruņinieku Street 5, Riga, LV-1001, while by the decision of the State Administrative Court of January 8, 2016, the name of the Hospital was changed to SIA “Rīgas 1.slimnīca”.

On September 18, 2009, a Real Estate Use and Management Agreement was concluded between the Riga City Municipality institutions – the Property Department of the Riga Regional Government and the Welfare Department of the Riga Regional Government, and the Hospital regarding the real estate at Bruņinieku Street 5. In accordance with the terms of the aforementioned agreement, buildings with a total building area of ​​34,287 sq.m. and land with an area of ​​7 ha – in Riga, Bruņinieku Street 5, k-1 have been transferred to the Hospital for use.
