The location was chosen due to its high patient visit numbers, indicating a significant need for healthcare services in the area. Initially operating as a Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) under the Dinas Kesehatan Kota Yogyakarta, it now functions as a Badan Layanan Umum Daerah (BLUD).

On of the latest constructed hospital at kota Yogyakarta. Previously at the location was puskesmas Mergangsan. In need of more hospital, so the goverment built RS Pratama. Located south of Taman Siswa street, right next to gas station, had fifth floor, a little difficult access into it when you Came from the west Side of the street. Neat, clean, hygienic. Friendly staff. One of the most chosen hospital to go by the city people. -okto heru santosa
