Established in 1985 as Klinik Spesialis Swasta Sri Ratu under Yayasan Nibung Raya, the facility evolved into Rumah Sakit Ibu & Anak (RSIA) Sri Ratu Medan on December 30, 1989. Founded by five obstetrics and gynecology specialists—Dr. Radja Malem Kaban, SpOG; (Alm) Dr. Maciste Lumbanraja, SpOG; Prof. Dr. Hamonangan Hutapea, SpOG (K); Prof. Dr. H. M. Thamrin Tanjung, SpOG(K); and Dr. Hasdiana Hasan, SpOG—the hospital initially focused on maternal and child health. Over time, it expanded its services to become a general hospital, now known as RSU Sri Ratu.
