Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), established in 1917, is the oldest operating hospital on Kauai, Hawaii. Initially founded as a tuberculosis hospital, it has evolved to provide a range of healthcare services to the community. Located in Kapaa, SMMH is designated as a Critical Access Hospital and operates with 80 licensed beds, comprising:​

Hospital Beds & Infrastructure

My doc was Russell Means. I found him to be caring, helpful, and resourceful. My reason was a shoulder dislocation. My first.. I walked in and found folks interested in my well being and comfort. The first attempt to reconnect was not successful. Doc Means continued to find ways to help me until, between the two of us, my humerus was reconnected. The pain was immediately relieved. Thx to the community for having this facility close by to help me~Neil West

My husband fell while we were hiking in the area and was in a great deal of pain. When we arrived at the clinic we were welcomed and immedialely taken in for evaluation. The staff was courteous, efficient and successfully took care of the issue, a dislocated shoulder. Thank you so much.
