In 1998, the Hospital de la Hormiga del Valle del Guamuez Municipality was launched by decree 094 of March 31 of the same year by the Putumayo Governorate in its first article, as a first-level hospital of Departmental Order; and was modified by decree 016 of February 9, 1999, with decree 094 of 1998, creating the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús de la Hormiga Hospital as a first-level State Social Enterprise complemented by second-level actions, understood as a special category of public, decentralized entity of Departmental order, endowed with legal personality, its own assets, and administrative autonomy; thus giving rise to the construction of the new Hospital in the La Parker neighborhood, with resources from the FIP (Public Fund for the Protection of Children and Families), a project that was inaugurated in June 2006.

Consequently, and by Appointment Decree No. 105 of March 27, 2024, and Possession Certificate No. 415 of March 27, 2024, Dr. Cristian Arévalo Guerra is appointed as Manager of one of the most important public hospitals recognized nationally for its optimal performance in terms of finance, management, and compliance with indicators.
