St. Joseph’s Hospital, located in Huwei Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan, was established in 1955 by Bishop Thomas Niu of the Chiayi Diocese. The hospital was founded to provide comprehensive medical services to the residents of Huwei and neighboring towns, focusing especially on serving the poor and underserved at a time when affordable healthcare was scarce. Its founding team included foreign missionaries such as Fr. George Massin (Belgium) and Fr. Anthony Pierrot (Netherlands), whose dedication helped shape the hospital’s compassionate, community-focused ethos. Over the decades, St. Joseph’s Hospital has become a major provider of holistic healthcare in Yunlin, recognized for its commitment to service and social responsibility.

My varicose veins have not improved after I visited many hospitals. Dr. Zhao Jiasheng was very attentive in his treatment and even helped with leggings. It was really a mistake. I will return to Shenggong Hospital for treatment in the future, and the pharmacists are very kind.
