UAB Medical West Freestanding Emergency Department, located in Hoover, Alabama, is a 24,342 square-foot facility offering around-the-clock emergency care. Opened in 2015 as Alabama’s first FED, it provides the same level of emergency services as a hospital-based ED, with advanced diagnostics, trauma rooms, and a dedicated team. Patients needing hospital admission are seamlessly transferred via ambulance or helicopter. The FED is part of UAB Health System, ensuring world-class care close to home

Can not say enough great things about UAB Medical West. I was taken back to triage within 10 minutes of arriving, and admitted about 20 minutes later. The ER doctor came into my room shortly after, and ultrasound got my imaging completed with an hour of that. Had a machine in the lab not gone down, I would have been in and out within 2-3hrs. Everyone was so kind, competent, and professional. Highly recommend.

This was the FASTEST hospital visit I’ve ever had! I went in at about 6:55pm for sinus related issues. I signed in, & all within 30 minutes..I had a steroid shot, completed discharge paperwork, & was walking to my car🙌🏽 …
