On August 6, 1976, by decision No. 361 of the Tomsk City Council of Workers' Deputies, a medical facility was put into operation at 38 Kartashova Street. The hospital had a polyclinic and a 24-hour hospital in its structure.

In January 2010, as a result of reorganization, by decision of the Tomsk City Health Department, the MLPMU “Hospital No. 2” was joined with the MLPMU “Polyclinic No. 2”.

The staff of the Regional State Autonomous Healthcare Institution “Hospital No. 2” successfully employs about 230 employees: two of them are Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation, Honored Healthcare Workers, three are candidates of medical sciences, 11 doctors have the highest qualification category, and seven doctors have the first qualification category.

The hospital's two outpatient departments serve approximately 30 thousand people.

Since December 26, 2020, the Regional Geriatric Center has been organized on the basis of the Regional State Autonomous Healthcare Institution "Hospital No. 2". The center was opened within the framework of the Federal project "Development and implementation of a program for systemic support and improving the quality of life of senior citizens." The regional geriatric center includes a geriatric department with 30 beds, a geriatric room for outpatient appointments, a physical therapy room, and an office for classes with a psychologist.

Thanks to qualified personnel, modern equipment and comfortable conditions for patients, the level of medical care in the Regional State Autonomous Healthcare Institution “Hospital No. 2” is consistently high.

Following the reported incidents in 2020, there have been efforts to address the shortcomings in patient care. The hospital's management underwent changes, with Aleksandr Kholopov being appointed as the head of MSCh-2 in March 2020. However, this decision faced criticism from medical staff, leading to open letters addressing concerns about hospital management and patient care standards.

The hospital aims to provide specialized care for patients with infectious diseases, focusing on effective treatment, patient recovery, and contributing to public health initiatives in the region.
