Dr Alex Simms is a highly experienced consultant cardiologist with over 20 years of clinical practice, specialising in heart failure, inherited cardiovascular conditions, and general cardiology. He has particular expertise in the implantation and management of pacemakers, biventricular devices, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), as well as the management of heart disease during pregnancy.

Throughout his career, Dr Simms has been actively involved in clinical research and has published numerous peer-reviewed studies in leading cardiology journals. He plays a key role in the Leeds Regional Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions Service and the Combined Cardiology and Obstetrics Service, offering expert care for patients with rare genetic heart conditions and women with cardiovascular disease during pregnancy. He is also the lead clinician for the Leeds Heart Failure Service and works as a Consultant Cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
