Dr Ankita Roy

Dr. Ankita Roy is a dedicated General Practitioner with over 24 years of experience in the medical field. After completing her medical degree at the University of Sydney in 1999, she pursued further training in psychiatry at St Vincent’s Hospital, successfully completing the Part 1 FRANZCP exams. In 2002, Dr. Roy transitioned into general practice and has since worked in various settings, including a general practice clinic in Maroubra and an HIV clinic in Darlinghurst. She has been with City of Sydney Doctors since 2005, providing comprehensive care with a focus on mental health, women's health, and children's health. Dr. Roy is known for her compassionate approach and dedication to her patients.

Dr. Roy's research experience is primarily practice-based, focusing on quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits within her areas of specialization. She has contributed to the development of internal clinical guidelines for mental health care, women's health, and immunization practices, enhancing patient outcomes within her practice. Dr. Roy's commitment to continuous learning ensures that her clinical practice remains aligned with the latest medical advancements.

Dr. Ankita Roy has made significant contributions to the integration of mental health and general practice. She has authored various internal publications, including Mental Health in General Practice: Approaches to Treatment and Management (2020), a resource used extensively within her practice to guide mental health care. In 2018, Dr. Roy presented Women’s Health in General Practice: A Holistic Approach to Patient Care at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners National Conference, sharing her expertise on integrating physical and mental health care for women. Her collaborative work with Dr. P. Sullivan, titled Integrating Mental Health and Physical Care: A General Practitioner’s Guide to Patient-Centered Approaches (2016), was published in Australian Family Medicine, contributing to the development of patient-centered strategies in mental health care. Dr. Roy also authored Immunization Strategies: Best Practices for GPs in Managing Childhood and Adult Vaccination (2015), which focused on effective vaccination management and is frequently used as a guideline in her clinic. Additionally, her article Effective Psychiatric Care for Primary Care Practitioners: Bridging the Gap Between Mental Health and General Health (2014), published in the Journal of General Practice, continues to be a foundational piece in understanding how general practitioners can address mental health alongside physical health in everyday practice.
