Dr Charles Nelson

Dr. Charles Nelson is an experienced General Cardiologist with a subspecialty interest in Cardiac Imaging. He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1989 and has trained at several renowned hospitals, including St Vincent’s, St George, and Prince of Wales Hospitals in Sydney. Over the years, Dr. Nelson has built a solid career in cardiology with particular expertise in cardiac imaging, offering comprehensive diagnostics such as echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and CT coronary angiograms.

Dr. Nelson has been in private practice for over 20 years and currently practices at Qualitas Medical Practice North Sydney, where he offers a range of diagnostic services for patients aged 16 years and older. He is particularly interested in cardiac imaging and echocardiography, having completed a Clinical Research Fellowship and Master of Philosophy in Cardiac Imaging Science at the University of Queensland. Additionally, he holds a Clinical Echocardiography Fellowship from Hearts 1st Laboratory at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane.

Dr. Nelson provides CT coronary angiograms and calcium score services in collaboration with Harbour Radiology, which are bulk-billed for Medicare-eligible patients.

Dr. Nelson has a strong background in clinical research, particularly in the field of cardiac imaging. His research interests include advancements in CT coronary angiography, echocardiography, and the use of non-invasive imaging technologies to better diagnose and manage heart disease. He completed a Clinical Research Fellowship during his training and has contributed to cardiac imaging science through research and clinical practice. His ongoing research focuses on improving the accuracy and early detection of cardiovascular diseases using advanced imaging techniques.
