Chris Malkin is a highly rated consultant interventional cardiologist based in Leeds.
He specialises in TAVI (keyhole aortic valve implantation) , coronary intervention (stents), valvular heart disease, chest pain and hypertension.
Dr Malkin trained in Sheffield obtained an honours degree and post-graduate MD. In 2010, he was awarded a prestigious BCIS training fellowship (British Cardiac Interventional Society) and spent a year of higher training in South Australia.
In 2010 Dr Malkin was appointed consultant interventional cardiologist at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals. and is now one of the highest volume operators in the region. He is highly skilled in coronary intervention and has excellent outcomes - all of which are published annually on the NHS Choices website. He is also a leading member of the Leeds trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) programme and performs more than 400 aortic valve interventions annually.
In addition to his consultancy work, he co-operates in important clinical trials of new technologies and training programmes for start-up centres, most recently starting a programme of non surgical mitral valve repair (mitraclip).
Dr Malkin performs training and proctoring for TAVI procedures all round the world; most recently in India and Taiwan
