Dr David Lindsay is a highly reputable consultant cardiologist with 28 years of experience, having undergone comprehensive training across the full spectrum of clinical cardiology. He is the most senior of the 13 consultant cardiologists serving the county.
Appointed in 1994 as the first modern cardiologist in West Gloucestershire, Dr Lindsay leads a high-quality cardiology service for a population of approximately 700,000. He also sees private patients at Ramsay Winfield Hospital in Gloucester and Tetbury Hospital. He completed his MD thesis on various aspects of heart failure and strongly advocates for evidence-based practice through clinical trials.
His key areas of interest include the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease, management of risk factors, valvular heart conditions, palpitations, and transient loss of consciousness (“funny turns”). He also has notable expertise in diving-related medicine and conditions such as atrial septal defects (‘holes in the heart’). He is the only cardiologist in Gloucestershire with a specialist interest in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) and runs a regular NHS clinic in collaboration with an ACHD consultant from Bristol.
