Dr Guy Haywood is a highly-experienced consultant cardiologist based in Plymouth who manages all types of heart disease. His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation, cardiac ablation, arrhythmia, chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath.

He has trained extensively in the investigation and treatment of heart disorders at various hospitals both in the UK and abroad including St George's Hospital, London and Stanford University Hospital Medical School, California.

After being appointed as a consultant at Derriford Hospital Plymouth in 1996, he helped set up the South West Cardiothoracic Centre (SWCC) - the cardiac surgery centre for Devon and Cornwall. He then visited centres in France, Germany, Italy and the USA to gain more experience and expand the range of treatments and technologies he can offer and also to enable the SWCC to establish new complex procedures. These include electro-anatomical mapping for the treatment of heart rhythm problems and to introduce the first atrial fibrillation ablation program in Devon and Cornwall.
