Dr Lena Thomas

Dr. Lena Thomas brings over 17 years of medical experience to her role as a General Practitioner, underpinned by a strong academic foundation and diverse clinical exposure. She holds dual Bachelor degrees in Arts and Science from the Australian National University, completed in 2005, and earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney’s Graduate Medicine Program in 2008.

Her postgraduate training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital provided her with robust clinical exposure in paediatrics, emergency care, dermatology, and women's health. In 2013, she achieved her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), signifying her advanced clinical competency in general practice.

Dr. Thomas has since developed specialized expertise in skin cancer medicine, occupational health, shared antenatal care, mental health, and travel medicine. She has also served as Registrar Liaison Officer at WentWest, and continues to be actively involved in medical education and GP mentorship, demonstrating her long-standing commitment to excellence in clinical care and continuous learning.

Dr. Lena Thomas’s research involvement is firmly rooted in applied general practice, with a focus on translating clinical evidence into practical protocols that improve everyday patient care. She has led and contributed to multiple quality improvement initiatives within her clinic, particularly in the areas of shared antenatal care, pediatric developmental screening, mental health triage, and skin cancer detection. Her work has included internal audits, patient outcome tracking, and clinical pathway evaluations that directly inform practice standards.

She has also collaborated in registrar education projects and served as a content contributor for continuing professional development (CPD) modules, helping bridge the gap between evolving medical research and frontline general practice.

Her work includes a clinical guide titled Shared Antenatal Care in General Practice, which outlines best practices for managing expectant mothers in a community setting. She also developed a structured screening protocol, Paediatric Developmental Milestones for GPs, used widely in registrar training sessions. In collaboration with her colleagues, she co-authored a manual on Skin Cancer Assessment and Early Detection, which has become a core tool within her clinic.
