Dr Neil Hobson is a leading consultant cardiologist based at the Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital. His areas of expertise lie in treating palpitations, atrial fibrillation, shortness of breath, heart failure, chest pain and unexplained blackouts and falls.
Dr Hobson underwent specialist cardiology training in Sheffield. After researching the use of stress echocardiography in assessing the haemodynamic profiles of native and prosthetic heart valves, he produced original research publications in this area and achieved his medical degree in 2005. He also continued his training in the field of interventional electrophysiology and obtained his fellowship at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. Whilst there, he was trained extensively in the management of cardiac arrhythmias.
Dr Hobson currently practices at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital and provides electrophysiological ablation of cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation ablations to a regional population of over 1 million. He is also committed to screening patients with a family history of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and routinely offers treatment to those considered at high risk with the implantation of cardiac pacemakers. Furthermore, he has a clinical interest in treating patients with heart failure using pioneering biventricular pacemakers.
