Dr. Penelope De Lacavalerie is a specialist colorectal and general surgeon with over 15 years of experience in advanced surgical techniques. After completing her medical degree at the University of London in 2002, Dr. De Lacavalerie moved to Australia where she completed her specialist general surgical training at Bankstown Hospital, Sydney. She obtained her FRACS (Fellowship in General Surgery) in 2009, making her a highly experienced surgeon in colorectal and general surgery.
Throughout her career, Dr. De Lacavalerie has specialized in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, robotic surgery, and the treatment of conditions such as colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), endometriosis, and pelvic floor disorders. With more than 15 years of surgical expertise, she has developed a holistic approach to her practice, collaborating closely with other specialists and working on complex cases, including rectal prolapse, anal fissures/fistulas, and haemorrhoids.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. De Lacavalerie has dedicated her time to teaching and research. She is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and regularly mentors medical students at the Nepean Clinical School – University of Sydney. She also pursues research in rectal cancer and is currently working on her PhD dissertation at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
