Dr Russell Hooper

Dr. Russell Hooper graduated from the University of New England in 2016 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). After completing his medical degree, Dr. Hooper worked at the Tamworth Base Hospital for several years in Critical Care Medicine, where he gained extensive experience in managing acutely ill patients, emergency procedures, and intensive care.

After his time in critical care, Dr. Hooper transitioned to General Practice and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). With over 6 years of experience as a GP, Dr. Hooper has developed a particular interest in skin cancer medicine. He enjoys the diversity of rural general practice, where he can work with patients across all age groups and provide care for a wide range of conditions.

Dr. Hooper brings his expertise in skin cancer detection, management, and treatment to his general practice, ensuring his patients have access to high-quality dermatological care, including skin checks, biopsy procedures, and skin cancer treatment options.

Dr. Hooper has not been heavily involved in formal academic research but remains committed to applying evidence-based practices in his clinical work. His special interest in skin cancer medicine leads him to regularly review research related to skin cancer detection and treatment. He stays up to date with the latest developments in skin cancer care and ensures his patients receive the most current, scientifically-backed treatments available.
