Dr Sanjay Bhandari is a highly regarded consultant cardiologist based in Leicester, who also practises at Spire Nottingham Hospital, with expertise in chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and performing specialist heart scans such as echocardiograms and cardiacMRIs. He is an expert in multimodality cardiac imaging, including advanced echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), and cardiac MRI, ensuring precise diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Bhandari qualified with first-class honours from the University of Leicester Medical School in 2007, and during his time there he was honoured with the John MacVicar Prize. He achieved a distinction in his intercalated BSc, which was on novel cardiac peptides in acute coronary syndromes, funded by the Health Foundation. He undertook medical training in the East Midlands deanery. In 2010, he became a member of the Royal College of Physicians, before returning to the University of Leicester to complete a Master of Research with first-class honours. As part of his academic clinical fellowship, he undertook a PhD investigating the impact of ethnicity on lipoproteins in coronary artery, for which he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship.
