Dr. Shiva Rayar is a Specialist General Practitioner with extensive experience in a wide range of medical fields, including general practice, emergency medicine, and sexual health. He began his medical journey at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, where he worked for four years and was awarded Senior Resident of the Year in 2010.
He is currently a practicing physician at Holdsworth House Medical Practice in Sydney, where he offers comprehensive healthcare services, particularly focusing on HIV and sexual health. His experience also includes time spent in rural and remote parts of New South Wales (NSW) with the Royal Flying Doctors Service, where he helped provide vital medical services to underserved communities. He completed his fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013, solidifying his role as a key healthcare provider.

Dr. Rayar is deeply involved in medical research, particularly in the fields of HIV prevention and treatment. He has co-facilitated numerous HIV and sexual health education programs, working closely with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM), and ACON, all of which have made a significant impact in the medical community.
In addition, he has actively contributed to the development and execution of healthcare initiatives for refugee and indigenous populations, helping to improve healthcare access in marginalized communities. His research experience extends to his involvement with the Royal Flying Doctors Service, where he worked during the COVID-19 pandemic in rural and remote NSW.

Dr Shiva Rayar is the quintessential Generalist. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle (2007) and then trained as a junior doctor at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. His performance there was recognised with the award for Senior Resident of the Year in 2010. He then went on to complete his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and concurrently undertook subspecialty training with the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine in 2013.
As a Specialist General Practitioner Shiva has worked in sexual health, refugee health, indigenous health and emergency medicine. He has also co-facilitated HIV and STI education programmes with the RACGP, ASHM and ACON. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic he was given the opportunity to work in rural and remote NSW with the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
It is with this diverse breadth of experience that Shiva has laid down roots at Holdsworth House to provide considered and compassionate care for his patients.
