Dr Sylvia Joseph

Dr. Sylvia Joseph is a seasoned GP who has practiced across diverse settings, blending clinical care with medical education. Since completing her MBBS and MPH/BMedSc (Hons), she has cultivated expertise in women’s health, particularly menopause management, adolescent care, men’s wellness, and geriatric health. She values the longitudinal relationships enabled by general practice, providing consistent and continuous care to families over time.

Since attaining Fellowship of the RACGP in 2013, Dr. Joseph has practiced at Sydney Road Family Medical Practice, where she is known for her holistic, inclusive, and empathetic approach. Her presence ensures patients receive care that treats both their health conditions and emotional wellbeing.

Dr. Sylvia Joseph has a strong academic foundation, with research involvement beginning during her Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours), where she explored the impact of hormonal changes on mood disorders in perimenopausal women. Her interest in women’s health continued during her Master of Public Health, where she examined barriers to accessing reproductive care in regional populations.

Throughout her training and early practice, Dr. Joseph participated in collaborative research related to adolescent mental health screening and chronic disease management in primary care. She has presented findings at GP education workshops and regional health forums, particularly emphasizing evidence-based approaches to menopause management. While her recent focus has shifted more toward teaching and clinical practice, Dr. Joseph remains research-minded and integrates current literature into patient education and decision-making.
