Dr. Ana Almeida

Dr. Ana Almeida has been a highly respected Cardiologist and academic for over 34 years. She works as a Senior Consultant Cardiologist at the University Hospital Santa Maria, Lisbon, where she has held various roles since 1994. Dr. Almeida is also an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, and Head of the Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging Unit at the University Hospital Santa Maria.

Her expertise in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) and Cardiac Imaging has led her to establish the CMR and Echocardiography Units at the hospital. She has been the Vice-chair of the Cardiovascular Centre of Lisbon University since 2005.

Dr. Almeida is a recognized leader in the field of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) and has trained and mentored many postgraduate and PhD students. She has actively participated in various national and international cardiology conferences and workshops.

Dr. Almeida’s research focuses on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, Aortic Dissection, and Cardiovascular Imaging. She has authored and co-authored several impactful publications, particularly concerning the use of CMR to predict long-term prognosis in patients with aortic dissection.
