Dr. Chen Zhu is a globally recognized hematologist and molecular biologist whose career spans rural grassroots medicine to international scientific leadership. He developed a revolutionary gene-targeted therapy for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), using a combination of all-trans retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide, now a standard lifesaving treatment worldwide. Dr. Chen has published hundreds of highly cited scientific papers and held top leadership roles in Chinese medicine and health policy, including Minister of Health, pioneering major reforms for universal healthcare. His scientific, clinical, and policy contributions have earned him international awards and membership in leading academies, making him one of the most respected physician-scientists of his generation.
