Dr. Matthew Slater is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years of experience. He earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1993 and completed his general surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) from 1993 to 1999. He then pursued a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at OHSU, completing it in 2001.

Dr. Slater is affiliated with St. Charles Health System in Bend and Redmond, Oregon, where he specializes in complex cardiac procedures, including valve repair, aortic root reconstruction, and the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. He also serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery at OHSU School of Medicine.

His clinical interests include the Ross procedure, arterial revascularization, and outcomes research in cardiothoracic surgery.
