Dr. Michela Sorensen

Dr. Michela Sorensen is a passionate and highly experienced General Practitioner with over 14 years of clinical experience. She completed her Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) at the University of Newcastle in 2011 and went on to receive her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2016. Furthering her expertise, she earned a Diploma in Paediatrics and Family Medicine from the University of Sydney and Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, refining her focus on children’s health and family care.

Her career spans diverse healthcare environments including Royal North Shore Hospital, Alice Springs Family Medical Centre, and international volunteer service in Uganda. Dr. Sorensen also practiced in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney before joining Walker Street Doctors, where she continues to offer comprehensive care in women’s health, preventive medicine, child development, and mental health. She brings a calm, empathetic, and collaborative approach to patient care, underpinned by her personal experience growing up in rural Australia and her dedication to health equity and education.

Dr. Sorensen has engaged in applied, practice-based research through her medical training and clinical interests. While completing her postgraduate diploma, she participated in observational audits and developmental assessment studies focusing on immunization adherence and child growth metrics. She also contributed to projects reviewing antenatal shared-care protocols and travel vaccine outcomes in rural and remote contexts. As a health commentator, she helps translate research insights into accessible public education, and she supports medical students and junior doctors in evidence-based case reviews.

Dr. Michela Sorensen is a University of Newcastle-trained physician who went on to complete her FRACGP in 2016, followed by a Diploma of Paediatrics & Family Medicine. Raised in rural Australia, she brings empathy and commitment to accessible healthcare across diverse settings. With practice experience spanning urban Sydney, remote clinics, and international health volunteering, Dr. Sorensen blends clinical excellence with community engagement. She also uses media platforms to advocate for health literacy and acts as a mentor for future GPs.
