Experience

Dr. Joanna Emanuel, known as Jodie, has been practicing as a General Practitioner for over 20 years. A founding member of Cooper Street Clinic since 2001, Jodie’s experience spans paediatrics, mental health, and women's health, as well as obstetrics and family medicine. After graduating with honours in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Otago University in 1993, Dr. Emanuel worked at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand before moving to Sydney Children’s Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital in 1995.

Jodie completed her Paediatric Diploma at UNSW in 1997, and later decided to specialize in General Practice. She completed her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) while practicing in various clinics across Sydney. Dr. Emanuel gained invaluable experience working at Kings Cross Practice and The Kirketon Road Centre, specializing in Drug and Alcohol addiction and Sexual Health Medicine.

Her focus has always been on providing holistic care, ensuring that she treats the whole patient and their family. Jodie is particularly passionate about caring for teenagers and young adults, drawing on her own experiences as a mother and grandmother to better empathize with the pressures that young people face today.
