Dr Sam Dawkins is a renowned consultant cardiologist specialising in general and interventional cardiology, with a focus on structural interventions. His expertise includes mitral and tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) using devices such as Pascal, MitraClip, and TriClip, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD), paravalvular leak closure, and left atrial appendage occlusion.
Dr Dawkins provides a comprehensive service for diagnosing and treating patients with cardiac symptoms, including breathlessness, chest pain, and palpitations. For those with an existing diagnosis, such as severe aortic stenosis, mitral/tricuspid regurgitation, or PFO, he offers expert review of previous imaging and personalised treatment recommendations. He conducts consultations in person, over the phone, or via video, and is frequently sought for second opinions on complex cases.
Having trained in medicine at King’s College London, Dr Dawkins completed a DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford (Trinity College). He then honed his skills in complex structural interventions during a two-year tenure at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he gained advanced training in TAVI, mitral/tricuspid TEER, and complex coronary procedures. He has served as an investigator in numerous clinical trials, including first-in-human studies of innovative medical devices.
