Mr Ellis Downes is a highly experienced and respected consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist who specialises in endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic pain, pelvic ultrasound, pelvic reconstructive surgery, and cervical cancer. After 11 years as an NHS Consultant at Chase Farm Hospital in North London, he is now engaged in full-time independent private practice.
His other main areas of interest include endoscopic surgery, urinary incontinence, and endometrial ablation. Mr Downes earned his degree in medicine from the University of Leicester in July 1989 and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in November 1994, later achieving Fellowship status in 2008.
He is a member of various professional societies, including the British Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy, the International Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy, the International Continence Society, and the British Menopause Society. Mr Downes has numerous research publications to his name and has co-edited a textbook on gynaecological surgery titled “Advances in Gynaecological Surgery.”
