Dr Ivo Gwanmesia, a graduate of Manchester University Medical School, is a distinguished expert in all facets of plastic and craniofacial surgery. He completed his surgical training within the London Medical Deanery, gaining extensive experience across London’s major teaching hospitals before achieving his Certificate of Completion of Training in Plastic Surgery in November 2010.
Pursuing advanced specialisation, Dr Gwanmesia spent 2011 as a Craniofacial Fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In 2013, he expanded his expertise in the United States with a 12-month fellowship in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, a globally renowned institution for cutting-edge surgical innovation. During his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr Gwanmesia further refined his focus on both adult and paediatric craniofacial procedures.
His pioneering research there led to the development of a novel surgical technique for reconstructing the nasal middle vault, known as the ‘Fulcrum Spreader Graft,’ now documented in scientific literature. Dr Gwanmesia has authored multiple academic papers and contributed chapters to leading surgical textbooks, including Plastic Surgery: A Problem-Based Approach and the Atlas of Craniofacial Surgery.
