Professor Pier Lambiase is a leading London consultant cardiologist who specialises in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders and pacemaker implantation. He graduated from Oxford University in 1992 and trained in cardiology at St Thomas’ and Hammersmith Hospitals. Following completion of a PhD in 2002, Professor Pier Lambiase was a finalist in the NASPE (North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology) Young Investigator competition in the same year.
Between 2002-2004 he completed clinical cardiology training at St Thomas’ specialising in arrhythmia treatment (electrophysiology) and pacing. He undertook his higher specialist training in electrophysiology and was appointed as a consultant cardiologist and senior lecturer at UCL in 2006.
He was promoted to Reader in Cardiology in 2012. Professor Pier Lambiase currently runs a nationally recognised clinic that researches into the causes and treatment of inherited rhythm disturbance, arrhythmia syndromes and SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) at the Heart Hospital.
Professor Pier Lambiase has co-written Heart Rhythm UK Guidelines on genetic testing and the management of these conditions such as SADS and arrhythmia syndromes. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers in cardiology. He is the Panel Lead for the Royal College of Physicians Map of Medicine Pathways in arrhythmia management and is an editor of the Oxford Handbook of Inherited Cardiovascular Disease. In 2015 he was promoted to Professor of Cardiology at UCL.
